PSW TRAINING
Assessing Specific Learning Disabilities with the
Dual Discrepancy/Consistency Model
Welcome!
This is a training series on the assessment of learning disabilities, by way of a Patterns of Strengths and Weaknesses approach.
I have spent more than three decades as a school psychologist, and I've discovered something new almost every day in this amazing field. But learning about CHC theory and PSW — and specifically the Dual Discrepancy/Consistency model — marked a turning point in my career, and brought me to a clearer understanding of assessment than I ever thought possible. I'm excited to share this information, and I'm honored that you would consider learning from me.
The authors of the DD/C model have been extremely generous with their support, but this training has not been endorsed by them. The authors (Flanagan, Ortiz, and Alfonso) offer their own training program at www.schoolneuropsych.com. Their program is excellent, and I recommend it highly. My training series is not intended to compete with theirs. Rather, I'm approaching it from a different direction: while the authors' training is similar to what you would find in a university, my goal is to create more of a practitioner's guide.
This site is very much a work in progress, so please stay tuned.
